Zonal Computer Resource Centre at B/Kahagolla National School was established in 1994 as a pilot project to cater the knowledge of Information and Communication Technology to the students of this area. This is one of the eight centres in the pilot project that was innaugurated on 04.03.1994 by the Hon. Minister of Education W.J.M.Lokubandara and the Director General of National Institute of Education, Maharagama Dr. Thilokasundarie Kariyawasam. The Director of IT Department, NIE, Maharagama, late Mr. K.A.V. Karunanayake took an immense effort to implement the project in the selected Computer Resource Centres by providing infrastructure and training the staff for these centres with the coorperation of the staff in this department and other officers related.

With the success of these centres more and more centres were established . Now there are about 100 centres islandwide. These ZCRCs provide great service to the students as well as the public society in the field of ICT.
